He is recognized for his exceptional defensive abilities and arm strength. In addition, Guzman was graded highly by Baseball America with an 80 for his arm and a 70 for fielding on the 20-80 scale.

Drafted: Pittsburgh selected him in the fifth round (144th overall) in July.

Guzman’s strong throwing arm has proven effective, with a 31% success rate in throwing out baserunners in 2025. While his swing is noted as being somewhat stiff, he possesses solid pull-side power and good plate discipline.

Tyler Samaniego: A Promising Lefty

Tyler Samaniego was recently included on the Pirates’ 40-man roster to protect him from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. To make room, the Red Sox designated right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell for assignment.
