Egypt Alerts on Temperature Plunge, Fog, and Rainfall Conditions

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a detailed forecast, alerting citizens to significant temperature drops and adverse weather conditions across Egypt. This includes Cairo and various governorates experiencing sharp fluctuations in temperatures. The agency predicts cold mornings with moderate daytime temperatures, followed by chilly nights throughout most areas.

Weather Forecast: Temperature and Visibility Challenges

In the mornings, expect cold weather in northern regions, extending down to northern Upper Egypt. Daytime temperatures will feel more moderate, but nights will remain cold. The EMA warns that strong winds will amplify the cold sensation.

Fog and Visibility Concerns

From 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM, fog and mist are anticipated on roads leading to:

  • Cairo
  • Lower Egypt
  • Northern Upper Egypt
  • Central Sinai
  • Canal cities

Some regions may experience dense fog, also known as smog, affecting visibility. Additionally, active winds could stir up sand and dust, particularly over the Northwestern Coasts, Western Desert, and Southern Egypt, potentially disrupting maritime activities on the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

Rain and Snow Forecast

Weather maps predict varying precipitation levels, with moderate to heavy rain expected on Saturday in areas such as:

  • North Sinai
  • The Gulf of Aqaba
  • The Gulf of Suez
  • Ras Ghareb
  • Zaafarana

Snow is also forecast to accumulate at the peaks of Saint Catherine City. Central and southern Upper Egypt are likely to see light to moderate rain, while the Matrouh coasts, Northwestern Coasts, southern Delta, and Canal cities may experience occasional light rain. There’s a 20% chance that light rain could extend to Greater Cairo.

Safety Recommendations

  • Exercise caution while driving in fog and mist.
  • Avoid mountainous areas during heavy rainfall.
  • Secure loose objects that may be affected by strong winds.
  • Stay updated with the EMA for any changes in weather conditions.

The EMA emphasizes the importance of adhering to these safety measures to ensure the well-being of all citizens during this unpredictable weather period.
