Cocona, a prominent member of the musical group XG, has publicly shared their identity as transmasculine and nonbinary. The announcement came as part of a heartfelt birthday message on the group’s official Instagram account.
Cocona’s Announcement
In the post, Cocona stated, “Today, I turned 20. As I reach this new chapter in my life, I want to share something that’s been in my heart for a long time.” They expressed their identity as “AFAB transmasculine non-binary” and revealed that they underwent top surgery earlier this year.
Self-Identification Journey
Cocona emphasized the importance of self-acceptance in their journey. They explained, “I was born and perceived as female, but that label never represented who I truly am.” This realization allowed Cocona to embrace their true self.
The artist highlighted the challenges of self-acceptance, stating, “The hardest thing I’ve ever faced was accepting and embracing myself.” Over time, they discovered the strength to define their identity on their own terms. “There’s nothing wrong with who I am inside,” Cocona added.
