Steelers Announce Week 14 Inactive Players Against Ravens

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to face the Baltimore Ravens in a crucial Week 14 matchup. However, injuries are affecting their roster, particularly on defense.

Inactive Players for the Steelers

The following players will not participate in the game:

  • Kyle Dugger: Safety, inactive due to a hand injury.
  • Derrick Harmon: Defensive lineman, missing his second consecutive game because of a knee injury.
  • Roman Wilson: Wide receiver, is also inactive.
  • Calvin Anderson: Tackle, inactive due to a knee injury.

Key Players and Changes

In light of the injuries, the Steelers have made some strategic adjustments to their lineup. New acquisition Adam Thielen, claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings, is active for this game.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin praised Thielen’s experience, stating, “He’s a been there, done it guy. His body of work speaks for itself.”

Additionally, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been elevated from the practice squad. Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2018, Valdes-Scantling has played for several teams and has accumulated impressive stats throughout his career, including:

  • 209 receptions
  • 3,606 receiving yards
  • 20 touchdowns
  • 10 carries for 52 yards

Impact on the Offensive Line

The offensive line is also dealing with its own challenges. Tackle Broderick Jones is currently on the Reserve/Injured List. Andrus Peat is expected to start at left tackle for the second consecutive game, having previously played against the Bills.

Peat expressed his readiness for the challenge, saying, “I always try to stay ready for any situation, but it’s a great opportunity and I’m excited for it.”

To further bolster their lineup, the Steelers have elevated offensive tackle Dylan Cook from the practice squad. Cook, who spent part of last season on the Reserve/Injured List, is looking to make an impact after being signed as an undrafted free agent.

Defensive Strategy

With the absence of key defensive players, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin emphasized the importance of teamwork in maintaining a strong defense against the Ravens. He stated, “It’s team defense. So, we have to be really good and on our screws that way if we want to have success.”

This Week 14 matchup against the Ravens presents an opportunity for the Steelers to bounce back and showcase their depth and resilience in the face of adversity.
