Frankie Muniz Returns to NASCAR, Ending Retirement Beliefs (Exclusive)
Frankie Muniz is set to make a notable return to the world of motorsports in 2026. He will compete in two racing series, revitalizing his career in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and embracing a new challenge in sports car racing.
Return to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Muniz, now 40, will rejoin Team Reaume for his second full-time season. He will be behind the wheel of a Ford F-150, participating in 25 races throughout the season. This marks a significant continuation of his journey in NASCAR, which he began in 2004 and formally entered in 2006.
New Sports Car Challenge
In addition to his NASCAR commitments, Muniz has been appointed as a driver for TechSport Racing. He will race a Ford Mustang GT4 in the SRO-sanctioned GT4 America series. He will partner with co-driver Tyler Stone for this venture, expanding his skills in a different racing format.
A Busy Racing Schedule
Muniz’s 2026 plans are ambitious. His schedule includes:
- 25 races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
- 7 races in the SRO America series
- Debut of “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” a four-episode revival
He reflects on the intensity of his upcoming year but remains committed to pursuing his racing aspirations.
Past Challenges and Future Goals
In a recent interview, Muniz shared his sentiments about the demanding nature of racing. He initially thought his last race might be his final NASCAR appearance. However, he expressed a strong desire to continue, stating, “The story is not done.”
In his racing career, Muniz has faced difficulties, including a wrist fracture from an accident at home in August 2025 that sidelined him for seven weeks. He returned to racing in October at Talladega, demonstrating resilience and determination.
As Muniz advances in his racing career, he aims to achieve more significant successes. He expressed his hope for additional top 10 and top 15 finishes, aspiring to confidently reflect on his efforts when he steps back from racing.
Reflection on Racing and Success
Muniz, having been an actor since childhood, finds racing to be uniquely challenging. He acknowledges that his journey in motorsport is a different measure of success compared to his acting career. He is determined to give his all and take full advantage of his racing license.
As he prepares for the upcoming season, Muniz remains focused on his goals and the unfinished business he has within the sport.
