Uber Debuts Service Linking to Ontario’s Ski Resorts

Uber has introduced a new service, Uber Ski, allowing Ontario residents to easily access ski resorts. Riders can book an UberXL vehicle, which accommodates both passengers and their ski equipment. The new feature can be accessed through the Uber app by selecting the “Uber Ski” option under “Suggestions.”

Booking Process and Ride Options

Booking an Uber Ski is straightforward, similar to requesting a standard ride within the city. However, riders should note that ski resorts can be remote and drivers have the discretion to accept longer fares. For example, trips from downtown Toronto to closer ski destinations, such as Brimacombe, may be more feasible.

Cost Estimates

There are no set fare prices for ski destinations. Riders can check costs before confirming their bookings. It’s advisable to avoid pressing “Reserve” if the fare appears excessively high. Examples of fare estimates include:

  • Toronto’s Liberty Village to Blue Mountain Village (approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes): $290.59
  • Toronto to Lakeridge Ski Resort in Uxbridge (about 1 hour and 35 minutes): $160.80

Expansion of Uber Ski Service

Beyond Ontario, Uber Ski will also roll out in several other Canadian cities including Ottawa and London. Other locations hosting the service are Montreal, Edmonton, Gatineau, Kelowna, and Vancouver. Internationally, it is available in popular ski destinations such as Switzerland, France, and the United States.

The Uber Ski service in Toronto is set to be operational from December 8 until the end of March, providing an excellent transportation option for winter sports enthusiasts.
