Newton, who is eight years younger than Rivers, acknowledged the circumstances surrounding the Colts’ decision. He raised queries about the perception that he is no longer an available player. “Did Philip Rivers send any type of signs that he was available?” he asked. He emphasized that he hasn’t officially retired and continues to stay in shape.
