Avalanche’s Gavin Brindley Returns After 10-Game Absence
The Colorado Avalanche are excited to announce the return of center Gavin Brindley after a 10-game absence. He is set to play against the Florida Panthers on home ice this Thursday night.
Background on Gavin Brindley’s Injury
Brindley last participated in a game on November 20 against the New York Rangers. He suffered a lower-body injury that led to his placement on injured reserve with a week-to-week recovery timeline. Despite this setback, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar expressed optimism on December 3, stating that Brindley was progressing faster than anticipated.
Brindley’s Performance This Season
In the current season, Brindley has made an impact with four goals and seven points over 18 games. He was selected 34th overall in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. During the 2024-25 season, he played primarily in the AHL, where he recorded six goals and 17 points in 52 games for the Cleveland Monsters.
Trade and Future Prospects
Brindley joined the Avalanche in the summer through a trade with the Blue Jackets, which involved sending forwards Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood to Columbus. The deal also included a third-round pick (Francesco Dell’elcel) in the 2025 NHL Draft and a conditional second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
Although Brindley remains exempt from waivers, his future in the AHL is not yet solidified. He is eager to prove himself as a regular NHL player upon his return.
Colorado Avalanche’s Current Standings
The Avalanche currently lead the NHL’s Central Division with 49 points from 30 games. They aim to sustain their momentum with four of their next six matchups at home.
Upcoming Schedule
- Thursday: vs. Florida Panthers

- Tuesday: at Seattle Kraken (Climate Pledge Arena)
The team is looking forward to maximizing their home advantage as they continue their campaign for the season.
