‘Property Brothers Share Past Rift and Their Journey to Reconciliation’
Drew and Jonathan Scott, the renowned twin brothers from HGTV, have faced challenges in their professional relationship. Recently, they opened up about a past rift that stemmed from pay disparities between them.
Revelations About Pay Disparity
During an appearance on “Andy Cohen Live” on July 10, 2023, Jonathan shared that their income levels were not equal. He revealed, “If I went into both of your bank accounts, I think you both have exactly the same money, basically. Is one of you richer than the other?”
Jonathan acknowledged that he used to film significantly more content than Drew. He stated, “After doing this for 10 years—I remember saying to Drew, ‘Should I maybe get paid three times what you get paid?’” This conversation pointed to a rift they experienced over compensation.
Reconciliation and Teamwork
Drew provided clarity on their roles, emphasizing that the viewer’s perspective does not capture their entire working dynamic. He mentioned, “Off-camera, Jonathan and I both do the construction. He’s the licensed contractor, but we’ve both done the renovations for years.”
Beyond their television presence, the Scotts have built a substantial business portfolio. They have successfully developed 12,500 products in home design, alongside managing multi-family real estate ventures. Their partnership extends beyond HGTV into various business enterprises.
New Ventures and Passion for Real Estate
The brothers continue to evolve their brand, most recently with their series “Chasing the West.” This show takes participants from urban settings to the rural landscapes of Arizona, California, and Texas, offering them a taste of ranch life.
- The show highlights the brothers’ deep-rooted connection to a 160-acre ranch where they grew up.
- They assist clients looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
- “It’s hard work,” Drew noted, contrasting expectations with the realities of rural living.
In addition to “Chasing the West,” the Scotts have successfully launched Scott Brothers Entertainment and home decor lines, Scott Living and Drew & Jonathan Home. Their entrepreneurial spirit continues to drive their success in the real estate and home improvement industries.
