Utah’s athletic program is basking in the spotlight after a stellar 10-2 regular season. The football team, ranked 15th, secured multiple accolades from the Big 12 Conference, showcasing its talent and resilience.

Big 12 Conference Honors for Utah Athletics

This past Thursday, Utah’s standout players received a series of prestigious awards. Notably, offensive tackle Spencer Fano was recognized as the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year. He also earned First Team All-Conference honors as a finalist for the Outland Trophy.

Quarterback Devon Dampier also made his mark, being named the Offensive Newcomer of the Year. He threw for 2,180 yards and 22 touchdowns, while also rushing for 687 yards and seven scores. His performance earned him Third Team All-Conference recognition.

Key Players on the First Team

  • Spencer Fano (OT)
  • Caleb Lomu (OT) – Allowed only eight pressures and six hurries in 294 pass-blocking attempts.
  • John Henry Daley (DL) – Tied for the FBS lead with 17.5 tackles for loss (TFL) and ranked second with 11.5 sacks.

Daley, however, faced misfortune with a season-ending injury on November 22. His contribution was vital to the Utes’ defensive efforts this season.

Second Team Honors

Defensive end Logan Fano and defensive back Smith Snowden also received Second Team All-Big 12 accolades. Fano was instrumental on the defensive line, recording 44 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and two passes defended. Snowden led the team with nine passes defended, in addition to making 37 tackles, throughout all 12 games.

Third Team Recognitions

  • Running back Wayshawn Parker – Posted 931 yards and six touchdowns.
  • Tight end Dallen Bentley – Recorded 42 receptions and five touchdown catches.

Parker’s second-half surge included four consecutive games with over 100 rushing yards, affirming his importance to the team’s offensive strategy.
