Sunoco is recognized as the largest independent fuel distributor in the Americas. The company has had a longstanding relationship with INDYCAR, serving as its primary fuel supplier from 2010 to 2018. Additionally, Sunoco was the fuel supplier for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway between 2015 and 2018. Its ties with INDYCAR date back to 1968, when Mark Donohue drove the No. 12 Sunoco Eagle.

Mark Donohue won his first Indianapolis 500 in 1972.
