Notre Dame Welcomes Mark Zackery IV to Men’s Basketball Roster
Notre Dame has officially welcomed Mark Zackery IV to its men’s basketball roster. The announcement was made by head coach Micah Shrewsberry on Thursday. Zackery, who recently completed his freshman football season, is poised to make an immediate impact on the basketball team.
Mark Zackery IV: A Strong Basketball Background
Mark Zackery IV is not new to competitive basketball. He is a former Indiana Class 4A state champion and an Indiana All-Star. At 5 feet 11 inches, he played a pivotal role in guiding Ben Davis High School to an impressive 33-0 record during his sophomore year, culminating in a state championship victory.
High School Achievements
Zackery’s high school career includes significant accolades:
- Two-time selection for the Indy Star Super Team.
- Scored 16 points in the state championship game.
- Named Tournament MVP at the Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic.
During the most recent 2023-24 season, he averaged 11.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Zackery also showcased impressive shooting skills, hitting 39.4 percent of his three-point attempts.
AAU Basketball Experience
Zackery has extensive experience in the AAU circuit. He played with Indiana Elite during the summer of 2024, alongside current Notre Dame teammates Logan Imes and Braeden Shrewsberry. That season, Indiana Elite finished as the Adidas 3SSB 17U national runner-up.

- 2021: AAU 14U national champions and a member of the Chris Paul Rising Stars Top 25.
Coach Shrewsberry’s Confidence
Coach Shrewsberry expressed optimism regarding Zackery’s addition to the team. He stated, “Mark will be a great addition to our program. He excels in ball handling, playmaking, and defense.” Shrewsberry emphasized that Zackery’s character would positively affect the team’s culture.
