Kobakhidze Attends Turkmenistan Summit with Putin
Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, participated in a summit in Turkmenistan attended by key regional leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The event, themed “International Year of Peace and Trust,” commemorated the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutral status. It aimed to foster dialogue and cooperation among nations.
Kobakhidze’s Participation in the Summit
The summit featured heads of state from multiple countries: Turkmenistan, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iraq. Prime ministers from Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Pakistan were also in attendance. This visit marks Kobakhidze’s third trip to Turkmenistan within the year 2025.

Forum Highlights
During the summit, President Putin emphasized Turkmenistan’s neutral status. He noted the UN General Assembly’s unanimous adoption of this status three decades ago. Putin also discussed enhancing the economic and social cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze highlighted the relevance of the summit’s theme to Georgia’s foreign policy. He pointed out that the world is facing significant challenges, including geopolitical tensions, armed conflicts, climate change, and economic instability. He stated, “The principles of peace and trust are not merely ideals, but the most essential tools for ensuring global stability.”
Addressing the situation in Georgia, Kobakhidze expressed that peace is an existential priority for the nation, especially considering the ongoing occupation of two historic regions.
