Canadian rock band Triumph is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a reunion tour set for Spring 2024. Guitarist Rik Emmett, along with bandmates Gil Moore and Mike Levine, reflects on the band’s enduring legacy and challenges through the decades, emphasizing the ambition and determination that propelled their success.
Triumph: A Musical Journey
Founded in 1975, Triumph emerged from the remnants of the band Abernathy Shagnaster. After member changes, Moore and Levine met Emmett in Toronto. This trio created a unique sound, ultimately selling over 15 million albums globally.
During their 13-year run, Triumph released nine studio albums. Notable hits include:

Challenges and Reunion
Emmett’s departure in 1988 stemmed from musical differences. For many years, he distanced himself from the band. However, the bond among the original members remained strong. As Emmett notes, “I was in a state of grace for the fact there’s this music… that just never stops regenerating.”
Triumph’s induction into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2007 marked a significant reunion for the band, paving the way for future collaborations. A mix of newer tunes and old hits awaits fans on this anniversary tour.
