Arctic Chill Brings Sub-Zero Temperatures to Chicago
Chicago is currently experiencing a significant drop in temperatures due to an influx of arctic air. Residents are facing conditions with bitter sub-zero temperatures and severe wind chills.
Sub-Zero Temperatures in Chicago
As of Sunday morning, temperatures near the lakefront recorded a wind chill at a staggering minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. The situation was even more severe in other areas:
- Woodstock: -25 degrees
- Aurora: -27 degrees
- Waukegan: -22 degrees
The Chicago Bears are set to play the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field today. The kickoff temperature is expected to be around 8 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite clear skies and sunshine, conditions will remain frigid.
Forecast for Upcoming Days
Even though the area might see intermittent double-digit temperatures, the wind chill will persist, keeping values below zero throughout the day. Overnight temperatures will remain dangerously low as well.
Hope is on the horizon, however. By Monday, weather forecasts predict a slight increase, with temperatures potentially reaching the 20s. This transition is anticipated as the arctic conditions begin to ease.
