Concerns Over Flooding from Warehouse Development

Resident Ian Southwell, who has invested heavily in his outdoor space, described his situation as dire, stating that he spent a considerable amount on lighting, furniture, and a hot tub—all ruined by the flooding. He noted, “I’ve lived here 18 years. I’ve never been flooded before.”

In response to the flooding concerns, Wigan Council held discussions with the developer. A spokesperson announced plans to construct a drainage channel to alleviate the water issue. This work is expected to start as soon as weather conditions allow and will be monitored closely by the council and the developer.
