LPSS Students Permitted Sweatpants Monday-Tuesday Amid Cold Weather
In response to anticipated frigid temperatures, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has announced a temporary dress code adjustment. Students will be allowed to wear sweatpants on Monday and Tuesday, December 15–16, to help them stay warm.
Cold Weather Forecast
Weather predictions indicate that temperatures will dip below freezing across Acadiana during this period. With the cold snap expected, LPSS aims to ensure students are dressed appropriately for the cold.
Superintendent’s Approval
This adjustment has received approval from Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. The allowance of sweatpants is effective for just two days, as temperatures are forecasted to rise starting Wednesday.
Dress Code Reminders
- Students in kindergarten through 5th grade may wear jackets or coats with hoods.
- Students in grades 6 through 12 are permitted to wear jackets or coats; however, hoods are not allowed, in accordance with district policy.
Families are encouraged to adhere to these cold-weather guidelines. Ensuring that students are warmly dressed is vital for maintaining a conducive learning environment. LPSS appreciates the cooperation of all families during this chilly season.
