Honda HRC Confirms 2026 SMX Season Roster Return

Honda HRC has officially confirmed its roster for the upcoming 2026 SMX season, featuring a blend of experienced riders and a strong support team. The Lawrence brothers, Jett and Hunter, will both ride the factory CRF450RWE, continuing their dynamic presence in the premier racing class.

Lawrence Brothers Strong Contenders

Hunter Lawrence has established himself as a top performer in the 450 class. Since moving up in 2024, he has secured four second-place overall finishes. Alongside his brother Jett, he contributed to Team Australia’s successes in the Motocross of Nations, winning the event for the past two years. Both riders are now key favorites for the AMA championships in 2026.

250 Program Riders and Challenges

The Honda HRC Progressive 250 program will see familiar faces with Chance Hymas and Jo Shimoda riding the factory CRF250RWE. Hymas has displayed remarkable speed over the past year, achieving victories across various indoor and outdoor races. After recovering from ACL surgery last summer, he is set to compete in the AMA Supercross 250 West Region.

Jo Shimoda is coming off his best professional season yet, with race wins across all three AMA series and securing the SuperMotocross 250 championship. However, he is currently facing a setback, having sustained a back injury in the off-season, with his return timeline remaining uncertain.

Consistent Team Management

The Honda HRC team management has remained stable, crucial for maintaining competitive performance. Brandon Wilson oversees the American Honda Racing Department, while Lars Lindstrom is entering his fifth season as Team Manager. They are supported by experienced crew chiefs Grant Hutcheson and Shane Drew for the 450 and 250 teams, respectively.

Dedicated Mechanics

The technical team includes Christien Ducharme and Cameron Camera, who will assist the Lawrence brothers. Thomas Harris and Ben Griffith are confirmed to continue as mechanics for Hymas and Shimoda, ensuring the riders receive proficient technical support throughout the season.
