Essential Details for Old Dominion University’s Fall 2025 Commencement
On December 13, 2025, Old Dominion University (ODU) will celebrate its Fall Commencement. Nearly 1,600 students will graduate during this significant event at the Chartway Arena.
Commencement Ceremony Details
The ceremony consists of two main sessions:
- 9:00 a.m. Ceremony: Batten College of Engineering and Technology, College of Arts and Letters, College of Sciences, School of Cybersecurity, School of Data Science, and School of Supply Chain, Logistics & Maritime Operations.
- 12:30 p.m. Ceremony: Darden College of Education and Professional Studies, Ellmer College of Health Sciences, Ellmer College of Nursing, EVMS School of Health Professions, Strome College of Business, and the Joint School of Public Health (in partnership with Norfolk State University).
Keynote Speaker
R. Bruce Bradley, an ODU alumnus and former Rector of the Board of Visitors, will deliver the keynote address. He has held notable positions in the newspaper industry and has been actively involved in various regional organizations.
Parking and Accessibility Information
Parking arrangements are as follows:
For the 9:00 a.m. Ceremony:
- Students: Constant Center 43rd Street Garage
- Guests: Constant Center 43rd Street Garage or Constant Center 45th Street Garage
- Faculty: 43rd Street and Bluestone Avenue Garage with shuttle service to Chartway Arena
For the 12:30 p.m. Ceremony:
- Students: Village Lot 2 and Village Lot 3
- Guests: Constant Center 43rd Street Garage or Constant Center 45th Street Garage
- Faculty: 43rd Street and Bluestone Avenue Garage with shuttle service to Chartway Arena
Accessible parking is available for guests with DMV accessibility placards. It is recommended to arrive at least 60 minutes before the ceremony. Signage will guide attendees to the correct entrances.
Ticketing Information
Graduating students do not need tickets; however, guest tickets are mandatory. Tickets have been distributed to eligible students, and any child over the age of two requires a ticket. Children under two do not need a ticket if they sit on a parent’s or guardian’s lap.
Post-Ceremony Details
GradImages will take professional photos during the ceremonies and send them to students within 30 days. Guests should remain seated until the ceremony concludes and then proceed to designated meet-up locations outside for celebrations. Opportunities for photos inside the venue will not be available after the ceremony.
Faculty Participation
Faculty members are encouraged to join the commencement. They can coordinate with their college’s commencement representative. Marshals will assist with the event, ensuring smooth operations and providing support for guests needing ADA assistance.
