Stephanie Cheng Appointed VP of International Projects at LA Rams

Stephanie Cheng has recently been appointed as the Vice President of International Projects at the Los Angeles Rams. This significant role highlights the Rams’ commitment to expanding their brand globally.

Career Beginnings

Cheng’s journey in sports began during her time at the University of Southern California (USC). She attended a career fair where she sought opportunities beyond the crowded booths of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Kings. Instead, she chose to connect with the Los Angeles Avengers, an Arena Football League team.

During this period, she met Kevin Demoff, then the director of football operations for the Avengers. This encounter led to an internship that laid the groundwork for her career. In addition to the Avengers, Cheng gained valuable experience through internships at the U.S. Olympic Committee and Chivas USA.

Progression to the Rams

After completing her studies, Cheng ventured into non-sports roles but remained passionate about athletics. She contributed her skills to the Doha Asian Games before returning to Los Angeles. Upon her return, she worked with Premier Partnerships, specializing in sponsorships and naming rights consulting, gaining insights into the sales process.

When the Rams relocated back to Los Angeles in 2016, Cheng found a natural fit in the organization under Kevin Demoff’s leadership.

Current Responsibilities

In her new role as VP of International Projects, Cheng oversees international initiatives through the NFL’s Global Markets Program. The Rams now have a presence in a range of countries, including:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • China
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Mexico
  • United Arab Emirates

Cheng manages various programs related to social media, digital platforms, merchandise, and media rights, all focused on enhancing the Rams’ global brand. Another aspect of her role involves overseeing special projects, particularly liaison duties for the team’s facility development.

Last summer, she managed the team’s interim facility in Woodland Hills. Currently, she is dedicated to the development of a permanent facility that will encompass football, entertainment, commercial, and residential components.

Challenges and Rewards

Cheng describes the dynamic nature of her job as both challenging and rewarding. On any given day, she might work on community communication strategies or interact with fans in the UAE. The variety of responsibilities keeps her engaged and excited about her work.

With Stephanie Cheng at the helm of international projects, the Los Angeles Rams are poised to strengthen their global footprint in professional sports.
