EQS-News: Historic Graphene-Enriched Cement Production Successfully Completed – boerse.de

First Graphene Limited announced a significant milestone in sustainable construction materials with the successful production of graphene-enriched cement. On December 19, 2025, the company reported the completion of 600 tons of its PureGRAPH® Cement, achieved in collaboration with Breedon Group PLC at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire, UK.

Production Details

This milestone marks a pivotal moment for the cement and concrete industry, demonstrating the viability of manufacturing environmentally friendly products at a large scale. The production process efficiently incorporated approximately three tons of PureGRAPH-CEM® within a single day of production.

The graphene-enhanced cement enables users to reduce their carbon footprint by as much as 16% due to less reliance on carbon-intensive clinker.

Applications and Collaborations

  • The improved cement will be utilized for concrete in three major projects across the UK.
  • The University of Manchester will conduct strength tests and performance analyses on the new material.

Upcoming Research and Development

In the initial phase of testing, 30 to 40 tons of the graphene-enriched cement will be incorporated into thousands of roof tiles manufactured by FP McCann in Cadeby, Leicestershire. These tiles will undergo testing for material efficiency and waste reduction benefits for five months at the company’s research facility in Knockloughrim.

This trial is part of the “Contracts for Innovation” project, funded by Innovate UK, which allocates £15,000 for the supply of the graphene-enhanced cement.

Supporting UK Housing Initiatives

FP McCann’s initiative is in response to the pressing housing shortage in the UK, aiming to support the government’s plan to deliver over one million affordable and sustainable homes by 2029. Additionally, the graphene-enriched cement is set to be used in two infrastructure projects in collaboration with Morgan Sindall Group PLC and Breedon.

Broader Interest and Future Prospects

First Graphene has been approached by various organizations in the UK and Australia for trial quantities of the material for diverse applications. As one of the largest cement manufacturers in the UK, Breedon is committed to producing sustainable construction materials, underlined by its use of this advanced graphene mix.

As First Graphene’s Managing Director Michael Bell stated, the production of 600 tons of PureGRAPH-CEM® highlights that their product is ready for large-scale production, showcasing the impressive performance advantages of graphene in various applications.
