India Drops Shubman Gill from T20 World Cup Squad

India has made a significant change to their T20 World Cup squad by removing Shubman Gill from the lineup. Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector for the Indian team, indicated that Gill’s current form did not meet expectations. Agarkar stated, “He is short of runs at the moment,” which influenced the team’s decision.

Suryakumar Yadav Retains Captaincy

Despite Shubman Gill’s removal, Suryakumar Yadav will continue as captain. He recently scored five runs in a T20 international against South Africa, but his overall performance this year includes 218 runs in 19 T20 matches.

Agarkar expressed confidence in Yadav, affirming, “We have full faith in our captain to deliver during the World Cup.” Yadav responded by emphasizing his commitment: “I know what to do. I have time to fix it. We will definitely see Surya the batter.”
