A tragic incident occurred in West Philadelphia early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a bicyclist. The accident took place at approximately 3:44 a.m. at the intersection of North 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue.

According to police reports, the 54-year-old male bicyclist was riding westbound on Lancaster Avenue. At the same time, a red SUV, likely a Jeep Cherokee, was also headed in the same direction. As the bicyclist attempted to make a left turn onto North 56th Street, he was struck by the SUV.
Details of the Incident
The crash resulted in the bicyclist being thrown from his bike. Following the collision, the driver of the SUV did not stop to assist. Instead, the vehicle continued westbound on Lancaster Avenue.
Emergency medical technicians rapidly arrived at the scene. They transported the injured bicyclist to Lankenau Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead just before 5 a.m.
