Rob Brydon Explores Northern Lights in New Series ‘The Trip’
Rob Brydon is back with a new chapter in his acclaimed comedy series, now titled “The Trip to the Northern Lights.” This six-part series marks his reunion with longtime collaborator Steve Coogan after more than five years. They venture through Northern Europe, aiming to uncover culinary delights while experiencing the stunning aurora borealis.
Exploring Icy Landscapes and Scandinavian Traditions
Directed by the renowned filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, Brydon and Coogan are not just capturing breathtaking scenery. They also immerse themselves in unique Scandinavian traditions throughout their journey. Brydon noted that their filming experiences included “plenty of saunas and cold plunges in crystal Nordic waters,” which he described as “wonderful.”
A Personal Highlight
A standout moment shared away from the cameras involved Brydon taking Coogan for a thrilling drive along scenic mountain roads in a classic car. Brydon handed Coogan his phone, prompting him to narrate the ride in the style of his fictional character, Alan Partridge. Coogan humorously critiqued Brydon’s driving, stating, “I wouldn’t call Rob’s style ‘sports driving’ exactly, but it’s certainly very spirited.”
The Evolution of Their Conversations
Now both turning 60, Brydon noted a change in the nature of their banter. The conversation has shifted towards health topics, reflecting their age. “That is something else Steve and I talk about a lot in real life,” Brydon explained. Discussions about health and wellness have become more prominent compared to their previous adventures.
