SUV Crashes Into Coffee Shop, Injuring Four Including Children
In a shocking incident in Gorst, Kitsap County, a family’s SUV crashed into a coffee shop, injuring four individuals, including two children. The accident occurred on Wednesday night when the driver, a 47-year-old man from Bremerton, suffered a medical emergency.
SUV Crashes Into Coffee Shop
The vehicle, carrying the man, a 47-year-old woman, an 8-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old boy, veered off the road and crashed into Sadie Mae’s Coffee. This collision caused extensive damage to the building and resulted in the vehicle being declared totaled.
Injuries and Medical Response
- Two adults were transported to Tacoma General Hospital.
- Two children were taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Multiple airbags in the SUV deployed during the incident, which was documented by WSP Trooper Katherine Weatherwax.
Investigation and Aftermath
The authorities reported that the driver is facing charges of second-degree negligent driving. Fortunately, there were no indications of drugs or alcohol contributing to the crash.
Weatherwax mentioned that the accident caused downed power lines and a sewage spill at the site. WSP has not yet provided updates on the conditions of those involved in the accident.
