Tampa Bay, Central Florida Open Cold Weather Shelters
As cold weather is predicted in Central Florida, officials have announced the opening of several emergency cold weather shelters. These facilities aim to provide warmth and safety for those in need during the frigid conditions.
Cold Weather Shelters in Central Florida
Flagler County
- The Sheltering Tree: Located at the Rock Transformation Center, 2200 N. State Street. Opens at 5 p.m. and closes at 8 a.m. the following day.
- East Side of the County:
- Dollar General at Publix Town Center: Opens at 3:30 p.m.
- McDonald’s at Old King Road & State Road 100: Opens at 4 p.m.
- Dollar Tree behind Carrabba’s: Opens at 4:30 p.m.
- Palm Coast Main Branch Library: Opens at 4:45 p.m.
- West Side of the County:
- Dollar General at County Road 305 & Canal Avenue: Opens at 4 p.m.
- Bunnell Free Clinic: Opens at 4:30 p.m.
- Bridges United Methodist Church: Opens at 4:30 p.m.
Marion County
- Ocala Salvation Army – Center of Hope: Located at 320 NW 1st Ave, Ocala, FL 34475. Shelters are available until 8 a.m. the next day on December 30 and 31.
Osceola County
- First United Methodist Church: Opens at 6 p.m. on December 30 and 31, available until 8 a.m. the following morning. Located at 1000 Ohio Avenue, St. Cloud.
- Iglesia Del Nazareno Casa De Vida: Opens at 6 p.m. on December 30 and 31, located at 2367 Fortune Road, Kissimmee.
- Poinciana Christian Church: Similar schedule as First United Methodist Church, located at 3181 Pleasant Hill Road, Kissimmee.
Orange County
- Matthew’s Hope: Opens at 4 p.m. on December 30 at 611 Business Park Blvd #101, Winter Garden.
- Barnett Park: Located at 4801 W Colonial Drive, Orlando. Opens at 4 p.m. on December 30 and remains available until January 1 at 8 a.m.
- Goldenrod Recreation Center: Situated at 4863 N. Goldenrod Rd, Winter Park, follows the same schedule as Barnett Park.
Seminole County
- Rescue Outreach Commission: Located at 1701 W. 13th St., Sanford. Opens on December 30 and operates until January 1.
Volusia County
- The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia: Located at 421 S. Palmetto Ave., Deland. Opens at 6:30 p.m. on December 30 and 31.
Polk County
- Talbot House Ministries: Located at 814 North Kentucky Ave, opens at 4 p.m. on emergency service shelter basis.
Brevard County
- The Sharing Center of Central Brevard: Located at 113 Aurora St., opens at 6 p.m. providing dinner and breakfast.
- Daily Bread at Melbourne First Church of Nazarene: Open from December 30 until January 2, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Lake County
- LifePointe Church: Located at 3551 E. Orange Ave in Eustis, opens on December 30 and 31 at 5 p.m.
Transportation options, including LYNX buses, are available for those in need of assistance traveling to the shelter locations. Pets can be accommodated at designated animal services when going to shelters.
