Bad Moms Dance Krewe Joins London New Year’s Day Parade
The Bad Moms That Dance krewe, established in March 2021, is set to make a remarkable appearance in the London New Year’s Day Parade. Approximately 60 members of this unique group will travel from Louisiana to participate in the event on January 1, 2026, showcasing their hip-hop dance style to an international audience.
Formation of Bad Moms That Dance Krewe
The krewe was co-founded by Whitney Hebert and Alyse Renz, who discovered a shared interest in dance through a Facebook moms group. Originally, they intended to create a simple dance class for local moms. What began as a casual gathering quickly gained traction, with 50 women signing up for the inaugural session.
Growth and Evolution
As interest soared, the group transitioned into a Carnival krewe. Their inaugural performance attracted 120 women, and by the next year, membership had surged to 450. Now, for the upcoming 2026 Carnival season, over 1,200 women have registered, of which 300 will participate.
Community and Sisterhood
Participants often cite the camaraderie formed within the group as a significant benefit. Melissa Rouse, a member since the beginning, emphasizes the importance of such platforms for women seeking friendships and personal fulfillment.
- Rouse moved to the Northshore and found community through dancing.
- Members support each other through personal challenges and family events.
The Invitation to London
The krewe’s invitation to perform in London was unexpected. A parade recruiter, impressed by their performance at the Irish-Italian parade, extended the offer. Hebert initially thought it was a scam until representatives from the London parade visited New Orleans to confirm the news.
A Unique Performance Experience
Set to perform from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. London time, the Bad Moms will bring their vibrant energy to the streets, distinctive in their hip-hop attire. Those wishing to watch can tune in via livestream on the London Parade YouTube channel or PBS, starting at 7 a.m. in New Orleans.
Future Aspirations
Beyond London, the Bad Moms will also showcase their dance at 22 parades, spanning from Lafayette to Mobile, Alabama. The journey from local dance classes to an international stage embodies their spirit of fun and sisterhood.
