Taichung’s Ultimate 2026 New Year Event Kicks Off with Enhanced Security
Taichung is gearing up for the much-anticipated New Year event on December 31, 2026. The celebration will take place at Shuinan Central Park and is set to continue until the early hours of January 1, 2027. The Taichung City Government has announced enhanced security measures in anticipation of large crowds.
Event Details and Performers
The New Year celebration will officially start at 7 PM after a warm-up performance beginning at 6 PM. Headlining the event is renowned singer Jam Hsiao, making a comeback after five years to perform in Taiwan for New Year’s Eve. Along with him, a stellar lineup of 16 artists, including popular music acts such as Lu Guangzhong, The Wanting Qu, Power Station, and more, will entertain the audience.
Security Enhancements
To ensure the safety of all attendees, the city government has significantly upgraded security protocols. A joint security drill was conducted on December 29. On the day of the event, attendees will undergo security checks at the entrance. They are advised to temporarily remove masks during checks and to avoid bringing large bags or prohibited items such as flammable substances and sharp objects.
Furthermore, the city has implemented a cellular messaging system for crowd management. This system will send alerts when attendance nears capacity and provide real-time notifications for any emergencies, guiding attendees to safety if required.

- Public Transport: Attendees are encouraged to use public transport options. The city government has designated pedestrian-only paths along Gansu Road.
- Shuttle Services: Free shuttle buses will be available connecting to high-speed and local rail stations from 5:30 PM until 1:30 AM.
- Parking Facilities: Limited parking spaces for cars and motorcycles are available near the venue and in the Feng Chia business district. Attendees are advised to check the real-time traffic updates for available parking spots.
