Check January’s NS&I Premium Bonds Draw to See If You’ve Won
The Premium Bonds draw offers savers an exciting opportunity to win significant cash prizes each month. With over 24 million participants, this government-backed scheme has amassed more than £127 billion in savings. The draws are conducted by National Savings and Investment (NS&I), providing a unique way to invest without accruing traditional interest.
Monthly Prize Draw Details
Every month, millions of Premium Bond holders have the chance to win cash prizes ranging from £25 to £1 million. Notably, two new millionaires are created during each draw. Participants can invest a minimum of £25, with the maximum investment capped at £50,000. The chances of winning are approximately 22,000 to one for each £1 bond.
Random Draw Mechanism
The winners are selected using a digital prize picker known as ‘Ernie’ (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment). This method ensures a fair selection process, allowing people to engage with their savings in a risk-free manner.

Understanding the Odds
Although many savers win monthly, the likelihood of winning remains relatively low. Expert analysis suggests that while the effective ‘interest rate’ calculated from total winnings may stand at 4 percent, the reality for most investors will not reflect this figure. Furthermore, numerous savings accounts across the UK are currently offering higher and more consistent interest rates.
With a secure investment and the thrill of potentially winning, Premium Bonds continue to attract savers across the country. Winning big is a possibility, but it is wise to consider other saving options with guaranteed returns.
