Jeff Behrman has been appointed as Bucknell University’s new head football coach. This announcement was made by Tim Pavlechko, the school’s Vice President for Athletics and Recreation. Behrman takes over the role as the 28th Bob Odell Head Football Coach.

Coaching Experience

Behrman brings over 30 years of coaching experience to Bucknell. His previous position was at John Carroll University, where he achieved a remarkable 29-7 record over three seasons. Under his guidance, the Blue Streaks finished with a strong 12-2 record last season and advanced to the NCAA semifinals.

Achievements at John Carroll

  • Named Division III Region 4 Coach of the Year.
  • Led the team to an NCAC championship.
  • Defeated three ranked teams, including No. 2 Mount Union.

Successful Tenure at Union

Prior to his time at John Carroll, Behrman served as the head coach at Union College. He transformed a winless team into a conference champion within four seasons. His overall record at Union was 42-20, including a notable 10-0 start in his fourth year.

Records and Honors

  • Led Union to a Liberty League title.
  • Achieved multiple coaching awards, including AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year.
  • His team won a school-record 21 consecutive regular-season games from 2018-2021.

Behrman’s academic credentials are impressive. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from John Carroll in 1995 and a master’s degree in community health promotion from West Virginia University in 1998.

Before his coaching career, Behrman was recognized as the 1995 NSCA All-American Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year during his time as a quarterback at John Carroll. He played an integral role on his high school’s basketball and football teams as well.
