Nio Achieves Q4 Delivery Goal; December Sales Soar, Annual Sales Increase 47%
Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, recorded substantial sales in December 2025, achieving its fourth-quarter delivery goals. The company delivered a total of 48,135 vehicles that month, reflecting a 54.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
December Sales Breakdown
Of the 48,135 vehicles delivered in December, the sales distribution was as follows:
- 31,897 vehicles from the Nio brand
- 9,154 units from the sub-brand Onvo
- 7,084 vehicles from the Firefly brand
Record Quarterly and Annual Deliveries
Nio achieved a record delivery of 124,807 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a 71.7% increase year-over-year. This figure met the company’s revised guidance of between 120,000 and 125,000 units.
For the entire year, Nio’s total deliveries reached 326,028 vehicles, a 46.9% increase from 221,970 in 2024. Cumulative deliveries since inception totaled 997,592 vehicles as of December 31, 2025.
Revised Guidance and Initial Targets
While Nio met its updated fourth-quarter targets, it fell short of its ambitious original goal for 2025. Management initially aimed for deliveries to double from approximately 221,000 in 2024 to around 442,000 in 2025. The final figure of 326,028 vehicles represented only 73.8% of this target.
Delivery Strategy Adjustments
Throughout 2025, Nio adjusted its delivery guidance several times. In June, CEO William Li projected about 25,000 monthly deliveries for both the core Nio and Onvo brands in the fourth quarter. By September, Firefly sales were included in the overall target, but by November, the forecast was reduced to between 120,000 and 125,000 units.
Best-Selling Model and Production Details
Nio’s flagship model, the third-generation ES8, launched in late September, became the best-selling vehicle. The company received over 100,000 orders for the ES8, leading to a waiting time of six months shortly after its introduction.
The vehicle is manufactured in Nio’s new EV plant in Hefei, Anhui province, where 43,668 units have already been produced. Currently, the delivery wait time for new ES8 orders is between 20 to 21 weeks, with expected deliveries starting in mid-May 2026.
Stock Performance
Nio’s shares experienced a decline of 7.2%, closing at $5.10 on the last trading day of 2025. Despite this drop, the company ended the year with an approximate gain of 16.97%.
