TriHealth Secures Agreement with UnitedHealthcare
TriHealth has successfully negotiated a new agreement with UnitedHealthcare, averting potential disruptions in patient care. This agreement comes ahead of the existing contract’s expiration on December 31, safeguarding services for a diverse array of patients.
Agreement Details
This new agreement ensures that TriHealth’s hospitals, outpatient centers, and physicians will remain in-network for UnitedHealthcare patients. As a result, Commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid patients can continue receiving uninterrupted care.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to continue caring for the roughly 80,000 of our patients affected by these negotiations,” stated Mark C. Clement, TriHealth President and CEO. He emphasized the importance of solidifying the relationship with UnitedHealthcare.
Negotiations Background
The discussions between TriHealth and UnitedHealthcare have been ongoing for over a year. TriHealth aimed for fair reimbursement rates and reduced administrative burdens during these negotiations.
In a statement, TriHealth expressed its commitment: “For more than a year, we have been negotiating with UnitedHealthcare to ensure we can continue delivering exceptional care while managing costs for our community.”
Concerns Raised by UnitedHealthcare
- UnitedHealthcare has voiced concerns over TriHealth’s demands for significant price increases.
- They argue that these hikes would pressure local employers and families financially.
- UnitedHealthcare stated that TriHealth’s proposals could escalate healthcare expenses, impacting family budgets during tough economic times.
“Quality care must be affordable. Our communities deserve both quality services and financial sustainability,” UnitedHealthcare emphasized.
This agreement marks a crucial step towards ensuring continued access and care for patients in the region, highlighting the ongoing negotiations’ significance for local healthcare dynamics.
