A native of Lehi, Utah, Hill attended Ricks College, earning Junior College All-American honors. He transferred to the University of Utah, where he played cornerback and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish in 2000. He also obtained a master’s degree in sports psychology.

Hill is married to Sara, and they have four children: Ashtyn, Alayna, Allie, and Jacob. His family recently welcomed their first grandson, Cody, adding to their joy.
