Westbury Celebrates New Permanent Banking Hub After Successful Campaign
Westbury, a town in Wiltshire, has recently established a new permanent banking hub following a dedicated community campaign. This facility, located on High Street, operates from a former Barclays bank building that closed in 2019.

The opening of the banking hub marks the third of its kind in Wiltshire, with similar services already available in Calne and Royal Wootton Bassett. Westbury Mayor Jane Russ celebrated the achievement, noting its significance for the community.
A Community Effort
Westbury’s banking hub was recommended by LINK, the UK’s ATM network, as a response to requests from the local community. The initiative was driven by residents, Westbury Town Council, and former mayor Sheila Kimmins.

Gareth Oakley, CEO of Cash Access UK, which operates the banking hub, emphasized the importance of providing vital cash access and face-to-face banking services for both residents and local businesses. This facility aims to enhance community banking experiences significantly.
Enhancing Community Spaces
Prior to the establishment of the permanent hub, a temporary banking service was situated at the Laverton building in Westbury. However, it offered limited accessibility to some residents. Mayor Russ expressed her satisfaction with the new location, highlighting its potential to transform the town’s High Street.
As part of broader community development efforts, the banking hub will complement the upcoming rotunda project near the town’s library, designed to host various local events. Russ stated, “If a town looks loved, it will be.” She anticipates that this investment in local services will significantly enhance the overall atmosphere of Westbury.
