Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has shared a hopeful message as he starts 2026 while facing a suspension. The Ukrainian international has been unable to play for either club or country following a provisional suspension initiated at the end of 2024.

Mykhailo Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk for £89 million. In his time at Stamford Bridge, he has made over 70 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

Current Suspension and Future Prospects

In December 2024, Mudryk tested positive for a banned substance, leading to his provisional suspension. He was officially charged in June 2025, and an investigation by the FA is still ongoing. The length of his ban remains uncertain, with the possibility of up to four years of ineligibility.

Expressing his shock at the positive test, Mudryk stated, “I have never knowingly used any banned substances and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.” Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about returning to the pitch.

Since the suspension began, Mudryk has been training privately, with limited access to the club’s facilities. In his first message of the new year, he thanked his supporters via Instagram. He wrote, “Happy new year to all my fans. I see all your messages and truly appreciate them. Please don’t give up on me; I have not given up on myself. Can’t wait to see you soon.”

Chelsea’s Current Situation

While Mudryk faces personal challenges, Chelsea has been going through leadership changes. Following a disappointing period, the club parted ways with their manager Enzo Maresca on January 1, 2026. Coach Calum McFarlane will temporarily oversee the team during this transitional phase.

Chelsea is currently placed fifth in the Premier League standings, trailing three points behind the top four. As they seek new management, the team prepares for their upcoming match against Manchester City.
