The Philadelphia Union has officially transferred left-back Kai Wagner to Birmingham City, an EFL Championship team. The announcement came on Friday. The 28-year-old German player has been with the Union since 2019, making significant contributions over his seven-season tenure.

Wagner joined the Philadelphia Union from Germany’s third division. Throughout his time in Major League Soccer (MLS), he achieved notable accolades:

- Two MLS Best XI honors, including in 2025
- Scored 10 goals and provided 54 assists in 253 matches across all competitions
During his tenure, the Union secured the MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in both 2020 and 2025. These awards recognize the best regular-season team in MLS.
