Orlando Weekend Weather: Warm Start Transitions to Cooler Finish
As Orlando enters the first weekend of 2026, residents can expect a transition from warmer temperatures to cooler conditions. Meteorologist T.J. Springer provides insights into the weather predictions, which include potential rain and thunderstorms this evening.
Weekend Weather Overview
A cold front is approaching Orlando, leading to a significant rise in temperatures. Throughout Saturday, daytime highs are anticipated to reach the mid to upper 70s, surpassing the seasonal norm of low-70s.
Tonight’s Forecast: Rain and Storms
During the evening, rain chances will increase as the cold front moves in. Anticipated weather patterns suggest:
- Rain showers are likely around dinner time.
- Potential for stronger storms, including hail and gusty winds.
- A marginal risk of severe storms persists in regions including Alachua, Levy, Dixie, and Gilchrist Counties.
In the Orlando Metro area, a couple of stronger storms may occur early on. However, these storms are expected to weaken as they move southeast. Rainfall is likely to continue overnight but should taper off before dawn, with temperatures dropping to the upper 50s.
Sunday’s Conditions: Cooler and Pleasant
As we move into Sunday, high pressure will set in, introducing drier and cooler air. The forecast indicates:
- A mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day.
- Daytime temperatures to reach the lower 70s, aligning with typical averages.
- Evening temperatures expected to fall to the lower to middle 50s.
Next Week’s Outlook: Warming Trend
Looking ahead, the upcoming workweek will feature a notable warming trend. A ridge of high pressure is predicted to extend east, bringing above-average temperatures and mostly dry conditions.
On Monday, highs are expected to jump back into the upper 70s. By midweek, temperatures may rise close to 80°F, nearly 10°F above the average. Thursday and Friday could see temperatures reach the lower to middle 80s.
This warming pattern is expected to hold into next weekend; however, the forecast hints at the possibility of the next cold front approaching later in the week.
