Despite being disappointed by his exclusion from the U.S. Olympic team for the 2026 Winter Games, Jason Robertson remains focused on his successful season with the Dallas Stars. The 26-year-old forward was not selected for the second consecutive year, having also missed out on the 4 Nations Face-Off last February.

Robertson’s Impressive Season

Currently, Robertson boasts 48 points, consisting of 24 goals and 24 assists, over 41 games. This places him second on the Stars roster, following teammate Mikko Rantanen, who will represent Finland with 56 points in 40 games. Notably, Robertson leads all U.S.-born players in the NHL this season and ranks eighth overall.

Goals and Performance Metrics

  • 48 points in 41 games (24 goals, 24 assists)
  • 80 points in 82 games last season (35 goals, 45 assists)
  • First among U.S.-born players in NHL points
  • Tied for fourth in total goals with 24

Reflecting on his omission, Robertson stated, “I thought that this year was different than last year. Obviously, last year I didn’t think I was good enough. Now I think I am.” He acknowledged the decision as ultimately out of his control but expressed determination to continue performing at a high level.

Coaches and Teammates Support Robertson

Dallas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan expressed surprise at Robertson’s non-selection, affirming, “I would’ve loved to have seen him on it. He’s been so good for us.” Jake Oettinger, a teammate who will represent the U.S. at the Olympics, described Robertson as “the most pure goal-scorer” he has ever played with, highlighting his exceptional hockey IQ.

Oettinger added, “I wish he was going over there, but it’s not my decision. He’s going to continue to dominate and show he’s one of the best in the world.” This sentiment reflects the broader agreement among coaches and players regarding Robertson’s talent and potential impact.

As the season progresses, Robertson remains committed to showcasing his skills on the ice with the hope of future opportunities, while focusing on contributing to his team’s success in the NHL.
