Robert Anae Appointed as Utah State’s Offensive Coordinator
Robert Anae has been appointed as Utah State’s new offensive coordinator, following an announcement by head coach Bronco Mendenhall. Anae, a veteran in collegiate coaching, brings 36 years of experience to the program. His extensive background includes 15 seasons working alongside Mendenhall.
Experience and Achievements
Anae has a proven track record in football, having been nominated three times for the Frank Broyles Award, recognizing him as one of the nation’s top assistant coaches. His offenses have finished in the top 25 of NCAA offensive statistics 56 times, including 21 occasions in the top 10. Throughout his career, he has led 28 teams to bowl eligibility.

- Two stints at BYU (2005-2010 and 2013-2015)
During his time at Virginia, Anae’s teams were bowl eligible in all but his first year, achieving an ACC Coastal Division Championship and participating in the Orange Bowl in 2019. His most recent roles included serving as offensive coordinator at North Carolina State for the last two seasons (2023-2024), and one season at Syracuse in 2022. Both teams received national rankings and secured bowl appearances during his tenure.

Robert Anae graduated from BYU in 1986 and holds multiple degrees in sociology. He and his wife, Liane, have three children, including a son who played on the offensive line at BYU. The Anae family has strong ties to BYU, with several relatives also having played for the program.
