Chesterfield Football Club has secured the services of Sammy Braybrooke on loan for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old midfielder joins from Leicester City, where he is a product of their academy.

Loan Transfer Details

This move follows Braybrooke’s short stint at Newport County, where he played until December 31. During his time with Newport, he made a significant impact, starting every match and contributing two goals along with two assists.

Performance at Newport County

  • Joined Newport on deadline day.
  • Started every match while at the club.
  • Scored two goals and provided two assists.

Newport County’s manager, Christian Fuchs, expressed disappointment at Braybrooke’s departure, noting his influence in the team’s relegation battle. Braybrooke had hoped to extend his loan, highlighting his enjoyment of the team environment.

Career Highlights

Braybrooke made his senior debut for Leicester City in the EFL Cup against Newport during the 2022-2023 season. He has also participated in Premier League and Europa League matches under former manager Brendan Rodgers. However, his progress faced a setback due to a knee ligament injury sustained in February 2023.

In addition to his time at Leicester, Braybrooke spent time on loan at Dundee in the Scottish Premier League, where he made nine appearances before being recalled to Leicester by Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Chesterfield’s Promotion Ambitions

Now at Chesterfield, Braybrooke aims to contribute to the team’s pursuit of promotion to League One. His experience and skills will be crucial as Chesterfield navigates the remainder of the season.
