Josh Allen’s injury status is a focal point as the Buffalo Bills prepare to face the New York Jets. The game is set for Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Allen, despite a right foot injury, insists he is ready to play, stating it doesn’t affect him negatively.

Injury Overview

Allen sustained the injury during Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns. He aggravated the condition in a subsequent game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. Head coach Sean McDermott has emphasized that Allen will not be benched easily. “To get him off the field, I’m going to have to wrestle him,” McDermott said.

Consecutive Starts Streak

With his first snap against the Jets, Allen extended his impressive consecutive starts streak to 135 games, which includes both regular season and playoffs. This achievement places him as the quarterback with the longest active streak in the NFL and the ninth-longest overall in league history.

  • Consecutive Starts: 135 games
  • Regular Season Games: 122
  • Playoff Games: 13

Earlier in the week, McDermott announced Allen would be ready to go for the game. Although Allen missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, he participated in limited drills on Friday. Fortunately, he was not listed on the final injury report.

X-Ray Results

Following the close loss to the Eagles, Allen underwent X-rays on his foot, which returned negative results. This marks the second consecutive week he has required post-game X-rays. McDermott noted that Allen’s foot feels better than it did prior to last week’s game.

Quarterback Depth Chart

Mitchell Trubisky stands as the backup quarterback. Trubisky has seen limited action this season, appearing in three games and completing 3 of 6 passes for a total of 54 yards. Buffalo also had Shane Buechele on their practice squad until he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on December 22.

Performance Metrics

This season, Josh Allen ranks second in the league for combined passing and rushing touchdowns, totaling 39. His completion percentage has improved to 69.3%, up from 63.6% the previous season. However, his interceptions have increased from 6 to 10, and his sacks rose from 14 to 40. Despite these challenges, Allen continues to demonstrate resilience as a key player for the Bills.
