James Wesley “Wes” Locklear, born on June 12, 1991, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, passed away on December 30, 2025. He was the youngest of three sons born to James Locklear and Yvonne Long. Wes was cherished by his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a vibrant spirit.
Life and Education
Wes grew up in Scotland County, where he enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and riding four-wheelers. He attended various schools, including:

- Scotland High School (Graduated in 2010)
Career Journey
Wes began his professional journey at The UPS Store in Laurinburg, working there from 2007 until 2024. In 2013, he and his brother Matthew purchased the store together. Known for his exceptional customer service, Wes always greeted customers with a smile and expressed gratitude with his signature phrase, “’preciate you and love you.” After his time at The UPS Store, he continued his customer service career at Aaron’s Rent-to-Own Center.
Musical Passion
Wes had a deep appreciation for music from a young age. He learned to play several instruments, including:
- Tuba (in middle school)
- Drums (self-taught during church services)
- Piano (mostly self-taught with some lessons)
Throughout his life, he composed a number of original songs.
Community and Family
Wes was not only known for his musical talent but also for his infectious laughter and ability to uplift others. He was involved in his church, where he developed his love for helping people. He is survived by:

A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026, at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, followed by burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
