Shirley Louise Morrow, a beloved member of the DeWitt, Iowa community, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2026, at 90 years of age. Her family and friends will gather for visitation on January 9, 2026, at Schultz Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 12:00 noon, led by Pastor Dianne Prichard. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Early Life and Marital Bliss
Born on June 14, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, Shirley was the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Studt) Oelerich. After completing her education at Davenport Central High School, she began her career at Davenport Bank and Trust, where she worked for several years.
On November 24, 1960, Shirley married Jack Morrow during a Thanksgiving celebration. The couple moved to DeWitt in 1970, where they raised two daughters.
Career and Hobbies
Shirley dedicated her professional life to Iowa Mutual Insurance Company, where she worked until her retirement in 2000. Additionally, she contributed her skills at Healthy Exchanges, a business owned by Joanna Lund.
Her passion for baking flourished, leading her to share her creations at local farmers markets and vendor shows. Shirley’s love for family was evident in her enjoyment of camping, fishing, and traveling, with family vacations holding special meaning for her.
Family and Legacy
Shirley was a devoted grandmother who cherished attending her grandchildren’s sports and school events. Her beloved pets, especially her grandpuppy Max, were integral parts of her life. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing board games and cards with family.
Another heartfelt tradition was sending birthday and anniversary cards to her loved ones, a gesture that was particularly appreciated by her nieces and nephews.
