Byeon Woo-seok’s SOLO LEVELING Hunt on Netflix Could End Sooner
Netflix is set to adapt the popular web novel and webtoon Solo Leveling into a live-action series, with filming scheduled to begin in April 2026. This adaptation promises to take a “quality over quantity” approach, as it will consist of only seven episodes, a departure from the 12 episodes seen in the anime adaptation.
Episode Count and Runtime Expectations
The decision to limit the first season to seven episodes aligns with Netflix’s pattern in live-action adaptations. While the anime’s episodes averaged 20-25 minutes, Netflix’s adaptations typically feature longer runtimes, often between 40 and 75 minutes per episode. For instance, shows like Yu Yu Hakusho and One Piece have demonstrated that fewer episodes can still deliver comprehensive storytelling through extended runtimes.
Confirmed Cast and Characters
The live-action series stars Byeon Woo-seok as the main character, Sung Jin-woo, and Han So-hee as Cha Hae-in. Additionally, Kang You-seok will play the role of Jinho. As the story unfolds, viewers will follow Jin-woo, an E-rank Hunter who gains extraordinary abilities after a near-death experience.

Source Material’s Success
Solo Leveling, created by Chugong, was first published as a web novel in 2016 and later adapted into a webtoon in 2018, illustrated by Jang Sung-rak. Since then, it has garnered immense popularity, with over 14.3 billion views worldwide. The anime adaptation broke records at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, winning nine major categories, including Anime of the Year.
Future Prospects
While the first season will cover the initial arcs of the story, there are ongoing speculations about a third season potentially being released as a theatrical movie. As fans await the live-action release, more cast members are yet to be announced, which is sure to generate further excitement for this highly anticipated adaptation.
