UK Universities Collaboration in Thailand

The University of Manchester, the University of Birmingham, and the University of Reading will work alongside Chulalongkorn University. This initiative is part of the Global Link Institute and focuses on the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and Bangkok.

Objective of the Initiative

The initiative aims to tackle the challenges posed by a declining birth rate and an ageing population in Thailand. By collaborating with a leading Thai institution, these UK universities will offer specialized degree programs tailored to local needs.

Degree Offerings

  • Four postgraduate degrees

Addressing Thailand’s Skills Gap

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) proposed the “Global Link” model. This model is designed to rapidly upgrade Thailand’s human capital.

The government seeks to harness British academic expertise to boost its economy and foster a shift toward high-value industries. This collaboration represents a strategic approach to enhance the skills necessary for Thailand’s future workforce.
