Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch with exciting new gameplay features. The latest trailer showcases various enhancements that players can look forward to.

Key Features of Mario Tennis Fever

This edition introduces an impressive roster of 38 playable characters, marking the highest count in the series. New faces include:

  • Goomba
  • Nabbit
  • Piranha Plant
  • Baby Wario
  • Baby Waluigi

Gameplay Mechanics

Players can utilize classic techniques such as Topspin, Slices, and Lobs. An exciting addition is the Fever Rackets. There are 30 new rackets, each featuring unique abilities:

  • Ice Racket: Freezes parts of the court, creating a slippery surface.
  • Mini Mushroom Racket: Shrinks opponents for a tactical advantage.
  • Shadow Racket: Creates a duplicate of your character for deception.

Players can activate a Fever Shot by filling their Fever Gauge. It’s also possible to counter this shot before it lands, turning the tide of the match.

Game Modes and Challenges

Mario Tennis Fever features both new and familiar game modes suitable for all skill levels:

  • Trial Towers: A challenge series to ascend through various tiers.
  • Mix It Up: Introduces unconventional rules for added fun. Modes within include:
    • Ring Shot: Hit balls through rings for points.
    • Forest Court Match: Expand the court by feeding Piranha Plants tennis balls.
  • Wonder Court Match: Incorporates Wonder Effects inspired by the Super Mario Bros.™ Wonder game.
  • Tournament Mode: Enhanced with commentary from a Talking Flower.

Additionally, players can enjoy online modes, including:

  • Online Room: Play casually with customizable rules.
  • Ranked Matches: Compete against players globally.
  • Swing Mode: Use the Joy-Con 2 for varied shots.

Adventure Mode and GameShare Functionality

The single-player Adventure mode adds depth, as players help Mario and others reclaim their tennis skills after being transformed into babies by mysterious monsters.

GameShare functionality enables players to enjoy the game on multiple Nintendo Switch 2 systems. If one person owns Mario Tennis Fever, up to three nearby players can join in.

New Accessories

Nintendo is also releasing new Joy-Con 2 controllers in Light Purple and Light Green colors, set to arrive on February 12. Pre-orders are open at My Nintendo Store and select retailers.
