Grand Rapids is gearing up for an exhilarating showcase of bull riding talent this month. The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) association will host its Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour at the Van Andel Arena. The events are scheduled for January 23 and 24, featuring both established and up-and-coming riders.

Event Details

During this electrifying weekend, 35 elite bull riders will take on some of the toughest bucking bulls in the sport. The competition promises an adrenaline rush for both participants and spectators. Here are the event details:

Competition Format

The competition will kick off with two initial rounds of riding. After these rounds, the top 10 riders, based on their aggregate scores, will advance to the championship round. This thrilling finale will decide who claims the coveted event title.

Notable Riders

This event will feature several noteworthy competitors. Among them is Michael Lane, who is entering his 18th season with PBR. The seasoned rider from Tazewell, Virginia has tackled 257 bulls and won 19 events throughout his career.

Additionally, Moria Novakoski, a 15-year-old local rider from Grand Rapids, is expected to make her mark. She gained recognition after finishing second in the NextGen rider development program during its debut in St. Louis, MO.

Previous Champion

In a notable past performance, Marcus Mast secured the Grand Rapids event buckle in 2025. He achieved an impressive aggregate score of 234 points, narrowly defeating Cody Teel by just 1.5 points.
