Delivery Driver Gang Assaults and Hospitalizes Innocent Man
An innocent man in Halewood was hospitalized following a brutal assault by a gang, which police suspect was a case of mistaken identity. The incident occurred late on Saturday night.
Details of the Assault
At approximately 11 PM, three men knocked on the door of a residence on Maldon Close. When the occupant opened the door, the men forced their way inside. They assaulted a man in his 30s using a weapon, inflicting injuries to his face, head, back, and legs. The victim received treatment at a local hospital but has since been released.
Disguise and Escape
One of the attackers was reportedly dressed in a high-visibility jacket, impersonating a fast-food delivery driver. The other two suspects were clad in dark clothing. After the assault, they fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
Related Incidents
Prior to the assault on Maldon Close, police received reports at around 10:30 PM regarding three men at a home on McVinnie Road in Prescot. The men knocked on the front door but left when there was no response. Authorities believe this group is connected to the later assault in Halewood.
Police Investigation
Detectives are investigating and strongly suspect both incidents are linked, as they appear to involve the same suspects targeting the wrong homes. Detective Inspector Jamie Heston expressed concern over the nature of the crime, describing it as shocking and appalling.
