Police Chief Reports Officers Injured in Ambush During Fatal Shooting Stop

In Gainesville, Florida, two police officers sustained injuries during a tense encounter while responding to gunfire on Wednesday. The incident occurred near a business area bustling with rush-hour traffic, close to the University of Florida.

According to Gainesville Police Chief Nelson Moya, the officers were ambushed by a suspect who had just fatally shot an individual at a nearby lumber yard. As the suspect attempted to flee, the officers engaged in a shootout, ultimately resulting in the death of the assailant.
