During his appearance on The New York Times podcast “Popcast,” A$AP Rocky, 37, opened up about how his mother, Rina “Renee” Black, influenced his romance with Rihanna. He shared that she often expressed a desire for him to pursue a relationship with the pop star.

Rocky recalled, “My mother used to say things like, ‘I know you like this girl that you’re with right now, but I want you with Riri.’” This playful admission showcased the strong bond between the artist and his mother.

Musical Connections and Growing Romance

The chemistry between A$AP Rocky and Rihanna began to surface in the early 2010s. They first teamed up in 2012 when Rocky featured on a remix of Rihanna’s hit song “Cockiness (Love It).” Their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards further teased their budding relationship.
